I picked up Miles Davis "Bitches Brew" two days ago on CD (I have had the lp off and on since 1970 when it came out) and it has been so refreshing. Too much rock and roll can drive you into the ground. Jazz has the tendency to make my soul soar. Oh, I won't be giving up RNR ... I mean, it is the major style of my own guitar playing

i got to send you a copy of "corrado," a jam recorded around the time of bitches brew (it's off the complete bitches brew sessions). billy cobham does this wicked entrance that sends shivers up and down the spine.

Have you ever figured out what Miles is whispering in "Bitches Brew"? He does it twice, queing I think. The second time he whispers "John" and JM takes off on guitar. What does he say the first time?

A friend has the CD of the complete sessions. I'll check out this "Corrado" you suggested, and thanks. BC has been a long time favorite drummer of mine ... Mahavishnu Orchestra is listed in my top 50 list. "Inner Mounting Flame", "Birds of Fire"- man!

That is so funny. This last week I was getting really burnt with the rock stations (92.9, 96.1, 97.1) and because I heard Jessie listening to some Miles/Coltrane while she worked on her quilt I decided to tune in to a little jazz myself this week. My mother gave me jazz, my father gave me country. Without even really trying I came across 107.5 WJZZ (http://www.1075wjzz.com/), which is smooth jazz, but it really has been a breath of fresh air. Sure, they play stuff like Sade and Barry, but they have a lot of grooves too. 91.9 tends to have more traditional or free jazz
