A couple of days ago, Plan R pointed out to me that I've signed up for a black belt test, to be judged by God. Indeed he described the performance standards I'll be expected to meet. Scary! I do not claim to understand the challenge you are facing, but for what it's worth, I have a great deal of faith in your abilities to deal with almost anything. Also, again, if there is any way in which I can help you, I ask that you let me know wht it is. Or perhaps your helping me all these years, has helped you. I hope so.

Helping you all these years has definitely helped me. There's nothing else you can do. I don't even need to pull back any more than I've been. I expect when I see you at the end of next month, I'll be pretty much the same as ever - just contemplating that challenge. As to the challenge itself, it has the most fantastic shape! Only God could have engineered it. Though I have a vague recollection of a movie I once saw that contained a hint of what might be coming. I don't remember the title, but it was in Spanish with subtitles (I think it took place in Spain), and it was about a tyrannic business magnate and his relationship with his son. Or something like that. If you know the title off the top of your head, you can tell me what it is. Maybe I can refresh my memory and be inspired, but it probably won't make a real difference in how I perform.

Yes, thank you! That's entertaining! And I'll meditate upon the advice as upon a koan.

I suppose God does grade most folks on a curve, but I'm aiming to clear the bar that you pointed out. There's a reason it was brought to my attention.

I think that's a good choice for you--aiming to clear the bar--since your predilection, among others, has always shared the sentiments of the great (but now retired) USAF motto.
