OOM in room 107: Beltane

Warren was really enjoying this whole 'second vacation at Milliways' idea. He needed a vacation from their vacation, and figured Kyle did, too.

Their first vacation, which Warren had been looking forward to for months, had somehow gotten away from him. Adam had made the executive decision that Warren being off work meant more time for him to be stuck in the middle of pack business, which was never fun because most of the pack resented the fact Warren was breathing.

Warren wound up scrapping with his 'friends' as often as he talked to them, and finally had to rip into Ben pretty good to make the little shit show him some respect. He didn't like Ben, so kicking his limey ass hadn't really been all that unpleasant. The unpleasant part was having to let Kyle patch him up afterwards and knowing Kyle would worry even more when he disappeared off on pack business.

And then, as if his pack wasn't taking up enough of his 'vacation', Warren got called in by his boss to take extra shifts at the Stop & Rob because it lived up to its name again and three clerks quit. If it had been anyone but his boss Warren would have told them to shove it, but his boss was a sweet little lady he'd been working for forever who knew he couldn't say no when she cried on him. He'd have probably agreed to work 'round the clock by the time she was through blubbering, just so he wouldn't have to talk to her anymore.

When Warren finally had the last four days of Kyle's vacation cleared, mostly by threatening people with bodily harm, Kyle had found a new project to fill them up. Warren had sort of had his heart set on spending those four days in bed, but instead he built goat pens and rabbit pens, and argued with Sam, and drove Kyle around to look at critters that seemed pretty useless to Warren unless you were looking for a snack that could floss your teeth. The trip to the brewery was more fun, but only because the guy who guided the tour noticed Warren was bored and started feeding him samples so Warren wouldn't ask Kyle to leave before he'd spent some of the money burning a hole in his pocket.

Going back to Milliways was nice, of course -- Milliways always was, it seemed like -- but finding out they could stay at Milliways for a while without losing time back home was even better. The rats had given them a room that had a big old iron bed with a feather mattress that reminded Warren of when he was young, a desk just big enough for Kyle's laptop, a comfy old chair that would have fit into Warren's own living room before Kyle redecorated, and a bathtub big enough for four.

The room by itself was enough to make Warren want to stay, but the bar downstairs sure didn't hurt the argument any. The company was good, the food and drinks were spectacular, and not having his pack around to be a pain in his ass could only be a good thing, ironic as that might be. Warren liked not being a lone wolf after so long, but he'd have been a lot happier with his pack if half of them would learn to ignore him as completely as he ignored them.

But, anyway! Warren was in a happy place, definitely, and enjoying himself a lot with Kyle, which was why he kept dozing off at odd hours. He usually managed not to fall asleep until after Kyle had nodded off, but Kyle had a bad habit of waking up first and getting ideas while Warren wasn't awake to talk him out of them. Sometimes the ideas were very good -- like chocolate body paint -- but other times, Warren wished Kyle would wear a bell so he could distract him before Kyle had time to get into trouble.

That was why being woken up by the smell of cedar and candlesmoke and something more subtle Warren's sleepy mind couldn't quite sort out made him wrinkle his nose and groan. He buried his face in the pillow, which smelled strongly of sweat and sex and Kyle, and mumbled, "Ky, what're you doin'?"
