Howard, let's talk. I studied the Troubles. I even went over there to study it. I have no idea what the best solution should be, and that's okay. I'm no expert. Nor are you. EVERY SITUATION IS DIFFERENT. DON'T COMPARE THEM.
Regardless of if Obama is Christian, Muslim, an Aqua Buddha adherent, agnostic, whatever--he's too busy to really faithfully visit a house of worship anyway. Shit's going on 24/7 yo. The new article about Washington in the Vanity Fair (LADY GAGA ISSUE!) is fantastic and shows how strained the Admin is. Plus, the writer clearly scored Rahm for an interview, which is awesome.
Late to the blog because, as a Deaniac from the time Dean was gov of VT and president of the American Govs Assn, I wanted to hear EVERY. FRICKIN. WORD. of Dean's defense of his position on this (mainly bogus-- you're right, vampirina) "issue."
First of all, Governor, it's not a mosque and it's not at GZ. (Why didn't Keith say that right up front tonight?)
Second, the stirred-up opposition to the center is part of a larger campaign of terror against Muslims and mosque-building nationwide. (Keith knows that, too, he's reported on it! Why didn't he tell the governor that?)
If Dean wants reasonable people to sit down and discuss this they have to have all the FACTS about them if they're ever going to reach a reasonable conclusion (which does NOT necessarily mean a compromise/ relocation of the ctr.) because I think the problem among reasonable people opposed to the center is primarily ignorance. >:
