Oh man, and there I was several days ago going 'well probably the picture of Obama bowing to the Emperor and Empress of Japan won't be as big a deal as the did he/didn't he one to the Saudi king', because, you know, in Japan EVERYONE bows to each other if the meeting is even the slightest bit formal, so it's just being polite, like a handshake-.

How naive I was. Seriously, did they they expect him to fistbump them?

Actually, "bowing outrage" has happened before

There was a Korean pop star doing a concert in Japan, and after her show, she did a typical end-of-show deep bow. The Koreans went ballistic, saying that she bowed too deeply to the Japanese concertgoers. It was ridiculous, because she wasn't doing a Japanese bow, she was doing a performer's bow (like performers do here in America, and most parts of the world).

So, yeah, this is nothing new. It's just that the hysteria and stupidity is in English instead of Korean this time....
