Keith gets choked up over his dad

Poor Keith...so soon after losing his mom, now his dad's been in the hospital.  It tore at my heart to hear him talk about it on Countdown tonight, and Elizabeth Edwards was so sweet.  I'd like to share that exchange here.  Keith talks about his dad about 5:20 into the video.

He was breaking my heart during that interview. It just made it all the more worse when you remember all the shit he took for taking time off.

Tomorrow the RW blogs will be accusing Keith again of "making it all about him" -- just to inject
a little more cruelty into the mix.

But getting back to the segment, Elizabeth didn't acknowledge what he said -- she just started
talking about Nancy Pelosi's response to part of the speech. I'm pretty sure if the situation were
reversed, Keith would have said how sorry he was to hear about a member of her family who was
currently hospitalized.

Didn't she comment on what he said? I thought she gave her sympathies.

Anyway, though, I know it's harsh and *super* tactful of the right to attack him on this, but I just hope he's above their criticism, and I hope it doesn't hurt him, even though he has every right to say what he did.

Damn, how heartless can people be, really?

She did respond with "So sorry" after he said "As you know, I lost my mother this spring..."
but didn't say anything in response what he said about his dad.

You can say that again. I used to respect John Edwards, until he pulled that stunt, a la John McCain and/or Newt Gingrich. WTF is the matter with him?!?

It's very disheartening. I always used to joke, even when I still liked John Edwards, that I loved his wife more and would rather vote for her for President, but wow...

Aside from the terrible disservice he's done to his family and his wife, a beautiful, classy, brilliant, compassionate woman, he did a great disservice to the poor of this country. He was their voice, a voice the poor sorely needed, and he chose his own selfish needs over theirs. Shame, shame.

I've added Elizabeth Edwards to my list of classy ladies I like, even Keith seemed quite smitten. I did just want to hug him too, he looked like he really needed one.

I agree about the smitten! They'd make a super couple, except he really seems to have his
heart set on having a child some day...
