transsexuals in iran documentary

I just watched this incredibly heartbreaking documentary about transsexuality in Iran. It was even sadder than I expected it to be, but I feel better knowing what I know. I am hoping that the more that this is exposed, the more likely that something will happen to help so many suffering people. We will see ( Read more... )

I think we have to be really careful when considering about a documentary like this. I've been meaning to write about this film for a long time.

Frankly, the situation for poor trans/gender variant in the US isn't all that much better:

Agreed, I definitely had to check some friends of mine who were like "I'm really happy to live in the U.S.". As I was reading the doctor's words/subtitles I noticed some definite reflections of American politics and policies.

I just read a sad article today about Iranian and Afghan male refugees in Berlin having to prostitute themselves. I haven't seen this documentary yet - will check it out.
