I'm so happy about the plastic bag ban! Most stores in SF still have them, but they give you a 5 cents refund for bringing your own. I got two of these and rarely leave home without them.
I don't really get that Anya Hindmarch one since it would not function as a shopping bag (i.e., it is more purse-like so chances are you would not carry it around empty, and then fill it at the store). I guess they raise awareness or whatever, but I would wager more on the likelihood of fashionistas lining up for them only to hit Banana Republic later and walk out with more crap in plastic bags.
I have like 5 cotton totes I have gotten through various eco conscious events over the years, but I always forget to bring them. There are of course dozens of different versions. I like that one because it has long handles...
Yeah I dont think many are using the Hindmarch bags for an eco-friendly purpose and furthermore it doesn't appear her company is making any sort of donation to anything. I just mostly use my grungy canvas bags (one from the old Canal Jean and the other from a pit stop in Dallas airport), but I do like the colorful styliness and handy pouch that Baggu offers so I may have to cop one.
those are cute! they look easier to deal with in the store, too. I might have to make a purchase! (although I don't think anything will ever replace my beloved Trader Joe's canvas bags, which they no longer sell!)
