It's about this substance, Zombie Powder, which grants life to the dead and makes the living immortal. People who hunt the Twelve Rings of the Dead (which, combined, create the powder) are called "Powder Hunters." A young boy named Elwood meets the most legendary Hunter of all, Gamma Akutabi, and...well, you'll just have to read on. It's only 27 chapters, and unfinished. When Kubo was publishing it, it began to lag in popularity. He ended up cancelling it, presumably because of the strain and pressure--he has said in interviews that he was in "a bad place" (emotionally, not literally) by the time he made the decision to cancel it.

Then he published Bleach and history tells us the rest.
