Kishimoto screwed himself over. If he just wanted Sasuke to turn to the dark side, he shouldn't have been falsely getting our hopes up for a redemption by maintaining his moral ambiguity, but making him subtly unsympathetic the whole time. So now, he's executed a badly done character development. BUT if he does go for the redemption in the end, everyone will be doubly pissed off because Sasuke doesn't deserve it anymore for being a dick.

So either everyone's mad, or everyone's really mad. WAY TO GO.

You know, not even a few months ago I thought to myself "if he turns into a bait-and-switch thing where Sasuke's been brainfucked all along and this isn't REALLY him I'll scream" but now I think that's the only way to redeem Sasuke's characterization. Not him, but his characterization.
