I get your frustration, but the show within a show, News Night, is a specific type of American news show. That is, primetime, national news. It's supposed to be mainly about America/American issues. While we have specific types of news shows that are more global, Newsroom isn't about that type of show.

yeah, I know but what's frustating is when the Newsroom tackles global issues because I see how interesting it is then and then it goes back to us-specific stuff and it gets boring again.

I can see that. But I'm way more interested in the relationships on that show than the news. It's all a bit meh and nothing new, there.

relationships always have been sorkin's specialty, but I like how he usually tries to make whatever the object of the show is some high art. sports in sports night, television and comedy in studio 60 and now journalism.

Yeah, that's what I'm not really interested in that show. It is so about America and so an idealized view of journalism that it's not interesting. The long speeches about Who We Are and How Would You Just Look At This Country are just very boring...
