-01 Demon Slain-

...What trickery is this? This is not Kamui. Have I stepped back through the Spirit Gate once more? Is this the past?

[A pause as brush lingers over paper.]

Others have written here before me... Can this be the work of another evil? Those two demons are gone, but the voice of Kutone tells me there is a greater magic at work here. [He grips the ( Read more... )

Wha? Again with that Spirit Gate stuff....could you tell me what the heck it's supposed to be?

And don't worry, there's no evil here. At least not from those other writers - those are just regular people, confused and kinda angry.

....Oh! Right, I'm Amaterasu. Hi!

[Holy crap! What the book glowing? Oki seizes the hilt of Kutone and jumps back, dropping the journal into the sand. He waits, but only sees words appear on the pages, nothing else. Approaching it carefully, he picks up the brush, cleans it of sand in the water, and writes again. His eyes widen at the name, though, and a massive blot of ink spreads along the page. Oki swears and write below it.]

Amaterasu? How...have you descended so quickly from the Celestial Plain? Is there something in this place that needs to be solved? No evil... then...

[Have another confused person going silent to think, Ammy.]

...and again with the celestial something and the "knowing me when I don't know you" thing, it seems. Whoever you are, I can only tell you that the ones who wrote before you are not evil as far as I know, and that I haven't smelled or sensed any evil in this land. Take what comfort you can in that.

Know... What? Amaterasu, surely you must remember me! We slayed the twin devils Lechku and Nechku together. You helped me see the error of my ways that long month ago...

I-It's Oki. Okikurumi of the Oina Tribe. Don't you... Remember me?

[His writing seems to get a little smaller and smaller. Less neat and more scribbled. The pauses between the lettering is significant, too. He seems concerned that you've forgotten him, Ammy. Or - hell - seem to not even know him at all. He thought you were not only his friend, but forgave him for being so stubborn and selfish before.]

...No. Whatever this place is, it is not the past.

Who are you? You speak of the legendary sword, Kutone, as if it is in your possession.

[Oki startles when the book glows and characters begin to magically flow over the page.]

How peculiar. Are you the one who has brought me here? Where is this place? Show yourself!

I see no reason to speak my name to one I cannot see. Who are you? Be you man or monster?

None of this is of my doing! As for this place, I cannot tell you anything of value - except that it appears to be desolate.

I am a man, as much as you must hope to be if you do not wish to face a sacred blade. I have no patience to spend on the trickery of beasts.

[Oki reads the characters over again and again. He tries to make sense of everything, taking off his mask and rubbing his face. This was not his forte, thinking in depth about something. He was a man of action.]

I, too, am human. And I see that you are in the same position as I. You speak of a sacred blade. Tell me... What are you called, stranger?

[The journal vibrates!

How many people are going to turn up before whoever--or whatever--is causing this stops? She drops the book on the sand and sits down in humanoid form, because sand has been clumping in her fur and it's easier to write that way. Flipping it open, she scans the new scrawl, bemused. She's never seen this handwriting before.

Oh wait--Kutone! Oh, she knows who this is! Excitedly, she takes up her brush.]

Oki?

[Oki jumps backwards, reaching for the hilt of his sword. It just moved! On his LAP. He watches as characters appear on the once empty pages, eyes wide beneath his mask. What in the--!!

Seizing the brush, he quickly scribbles, writing a hurried mess. Can you even make that out?]

How do you know my name? Are you the one who took me here?! Speak now or feel the sting of my blade, vile spirit!

[She squints at the journal, the characters at first too messy to understand. After a moment, she manages to decipher the general gist of the scrawl. Vile spirit? What vile spirit? Where? Is he sensing something she isn't?

...oh, he means her. Durr.

Hang on, that's insulting!]

I'm not a vile spirit! I'm Amaterasu! And I have no idea who or what transported us here; that's what I've been trying to figure out.

[Oki blinks, staring at the words in the journal. He has to remove his mask, just to be sure he wasn't seeing things. Plus, he was getting incredibly hot. The warrior's clothes weren't really built for the blaring heat of Ryoshima's sandy beaches.]

Amaterasu...? How in the world... Why are you here?

[It had been one month's passing since he defeated the Twin Devils and the prophecy of his people came to pass. Why have you now descended from the Celestial Plain, o' glorious sun mother? What evil could drive you to leave that holy land and aid your children once more?]
