That... is striking. I've seen this sort of thing said before, fairly often, by people who think they're being unique; but it rarely has this kind of impact.
I ride the train to work and back every day and, while Salt Lake City doesn't have quite the teaming humanity that California cities have, I've seen interesting things and heard strange, depressing, wonderful, things......last night I heard three people planning a heroin buy. The other day five teenage boys played hacky sack on the train for 20 minutes, the week before that I talked to a woman who was soooo proud of her Special Olympics accomplishments and her enthusiasm brightened the day of everyone on the bus! Its certainly an experience in the human race to take public transportation...
