I ask of you your prompts.

I will write snippets from the world of the novel I'm working on. You will get to read these. I ask for a sentence and each prompt must include one mythical creature.

The manticore grinned, lazily picking its teeth with the rusted sword of a knight long since digested.

Dangit. I was gonna do manticores.

Her subjects tried their best to hide their surprise. Carefully - ever so carefully - they asked: Don’t you mean…? Are you thinking of…? Wouldn’t you rather…? But no. Their lady wanted to be called the Incubus Queen, and so she would be called. No sense arguing semantics with a being who could change your mind with a word.

I tried to count the number of dragons flying overhead again, but I realized that the exact number was probably irrelevant.
