I do not like U2.  I know they've sold tons of albums so someone out there must like them but I just don't understand why they're so big.  Some of their old songs are ok.  I can't even say their newer songs are ok.  The lyrics have gone way down hill.  I think they pull words out of the air and see what they can rhyme with it ( Read more... )

Yes, this, totally this....thank you thank you thank you. I like U2 enough, I own a couple of their albums, but the quality has gone really downhill......Achtung Baby was their last super awesome album and then the one a few years ago with Walk On, Beautiful Day, etc. was really amazing, but on the whole they are so seriously overhyped it's tragic. And the couple of new songs I've heard from the new record (they played previews on local stations here) are not even close to impressive. U2 can spit and people get all excited but their prime is wayyyyyyyy in the rearview mirror.

I'm not a U2 fan either. One of my past co-workers had pretty much nothing else on her iPod, which made the days she got to pick the music rather long for me. There are only so many times you can listen to "Where the Street's have No Name" in one day.

I haven't heard the new song yet, but I don't hold out much hope for it.

Ah! that's horrible! Some radio station is playing 24 hours of U2. I don't get it.
