Post 6.05 Sam!explanation bunny

Oct 23, 2010 11:10

I don't know about you, but although 6.05 is not going on my favorites list I did get a potential explanation of what's going on with Sam.

I don't think this is where the season is going, but I thought I'd throw it out here 'cause I'd love to see what y'all will do with it.

Cut for 6.05 spoilers )

Yeah, I noticed that, too. He seems incapable of feeling this season, doesn't he?

Actually, that's exactly the thoughts that I've been having, in regards to Sam. If they actually went that route, I'd be ecstatic. Hell wasn't ever meant to have a body, so that's the reason Sam got shoved out/came back so fast. Except it's not all of Sam. And I would LOVE to see them go this route. Jared's already been playing such a different character this season, and doing it well, but I (and Dean) miss the real Sam. A lot.

I've been crap at feedback lately, but I have been really enjoying your clone!fic, too. It's satisfying my (growing desperate) need for brother!comfort.

Ya know, I just had an expansion on this emotional parts of Sam in hell idea. What if Sam's paying for sex not because he doesn't want commitment or emotion, but because he has to.

I don't know if you've ever watched Dexter, but in early season 1 (maybe even the 1st ep) he says that the risk of trying to have a relationship with a woman is that he believes that while having sex, she can look into his eyes and see the monster he really is. Maybe unemotional, detatched!Sam is freaking out women he tries to pick up, so he just finds it easier to pay.

*shrugs*

Girlie, I just saw your update post on your fic (which has me on the edge of my seat, btw), and I realized I'd complimented you on the wrong fic above.

I'm soooooo sorry. I'm more than a little absent-minded today. :-(

I still believe that someone has Sam's soul. I think Balthasar's whole "souls are valuable" spiel links to that. So what we have running around is a soulless Sam!

Anyway, I can't wait to find out what's been happening. Next ep. maybe?

Hey, I put it up 'cause I wanted it used. If you've got a story from it, please write it.

I am glad someone is thinking along this lines because all summer I have been asking what happened to Sam's body. We know that when was hauled off to hell his body was left behind so what happened to Sam's actual body?

I can see this explanation and the wonderful possibility for limpSam since his soul would have been in hell for the whole year... and perhaps his body can somehow recall his soul IF it wants too. The big thing would be making this Sam want his soul back.

I don't think it's as simple as just *wanting* it back, especially if Sam thinks part of himself is suffering in hell. If that was the case, then sooner would definitely be the better option. Still, after all this time (and potential suffering), I can see how Sam would be hesitant to reclaim a potentially severely damaged part of himself.

Oh, and speaking of suffering, I'm dying for the Sam!rescue/discovery in your fic. ;-)

I doubt it would be simple either, however I do also think though that Sam would need to want it back for it to be successful. And if he really thinks living without it is better, I can't see him wanting to deal with all that crap again. can you imagine? On top of all the stuff he has to feel guilty and terrible about before (and whatever comes from being in hell and what Lucifer put him through as his vessel), he'd now have how he acted when he was soulless ti deal with too (assuming he'd remember and most particularly in letting Dean get turned).

Dude, there's gotta be a point where your sanity just packs up and runs away. Major anti-depressants. Maybe even electroshock therapy. (Yes, it's still used in cases of severe depression with the patient unconscious, of course.)
