Aw, I can't believe Dean would adjust the Impala like that. So sweet. I really loved John in this as well. All the guilt and love pouring off of them.

Well, I figure Dean's go his priorities straight between Sam and the Impala, and he seems to prefer actions over words, so I could see him doing this as sign of acceptance. Also, in case of emergency, I can see Dean wanting Sam to be able to drive the Impala.

So glad to hear that the sweet ending worked for you. I fought it, but John insisted! Very stubborn muse, that one. ;-)

I LOVE the idea that Dean eventually pushes Sam to go to college himself, sees that he needs that. And I LOVE that he modifies the freaking IMPALA for him. Omg.
