ONTD, what did you think of the finale? For me, the only saving grace of this episode was Charlotte Rampling's performance.

Seriously. How utterly underwhelming :/

There's no resolution in the plots nor the themes, but I guess it was better to waste half an episode on Mark Gatiss' predatory Ent's ass.

lmao and to think that, in retrospect, that episode was actually a highlight in terms of dramatic tension :/

(and also grossness)

Urgh, the series started out so promisingly and utterly devolved in the last two eps.

mte. I was really hoping that last week was underwhelming in comparison because it was the exposition-filled episode that usually comes before a huge finale. Shows usually give us all the info so they can just focus on action in the last episode. London Spy had a boring penultimate episode and an even more boring finale.

There are still so many fucking questions, and they could've filled in so much but... the ending? I'm just like "Oh. Ok. I guess." Still annoyed about all the tragic gay stereotypes they filled in to it all. I mean fucking Alex, I cant :'(

Seriously. Didn't the writer say this wouldn't be a tragic gay story? Wasn't it exactly that?

Yeah. And what pisses me off is that Danny suffered for LITERALLY nothing.
To find out the truth? Only to have the truth erased?

Exactly. If the government (or whoever) were powerful enough to prevent the dispersal of this information, then what does it matter that Danny discovered the truth? If there was nothing he could do with it, what was the point?

So underwhelming and unsatisfying.

On a positive note; they could still make a second season as Alex could in theory still be alive. Yes we saw him in the box and that he lied so we assume they killed him, but he could still be alive. pleaseletAlexbealive

It could be that they showed it was a lie just so his mother wouldn't know he was still alive. But I still think the whole premise is a bit ridiculous - why make Danny suffer so much if the issue is settled?

Danny's fate makes no sense. There was no reason to make him suffer so much instead of flat-out killing him and settling the matter once and for all. There were some theories that Alex had cut a deal, ensuring Danny's survival or something, which I could buy. But the finale suggested nothing of the sort.

Agreed. The only way out that isn't fucking miserable is a) Alex made a deal and b) Danny only suffered cause he kept digging and he wasn't getting too close.

But that still leaves shit like infecting him with HIV which serves NO purpose. I would've been fine if it had been a plot like "Actually Alex was a cunt and left you" or "Alex was testing you this was all fake and now you can escape".

Idk. I just don't know. But pissed there isnt a nice tied up ending in any case.

not surprised to read that the writer of the series is the bf of BBC's head of drama department

lol people said that before the first episode aired, and I was like "yikes" but then the premiere was great so I was like "OK, but that doesn't mean he's not talented". Oop @ me.
