I don't understand why these contraptions are called 'waist-trainers' when they are essentially baby corsets. My coworker uses one- it reminds me of the Victorian age. I wonder if she will pass out from it at some point.

When you purchase them they come with exercise guides to try and keep your abs in shape but of course no one follows them. It's just all really sad.

I... can't imagine that anyone who is really interested in ~rilly rill corsets done correctly~ is looking to the Kardashians for advice on it.

Im seeing a lot of younger women with their asses done lately, and I dont exactly live in an area known for a large portion of the population having plastic surgery.

Yeah but I'm talking about people who are really invested in knowing proper corsetry and the historical accuracy of it and shit. I doubt those are the same people who are looking to a Jenner instagram post for advice on that.

I actually find them super comfortable and great for my back/posture. I originally got a couple of real ones just for kicks because I've always loved the shape, but now I find that I hardly ever wear them out, but will often feel like wearing one for a few hours while lounging around the house on a Sunday or something. If you lace them right (not super-duper tight) it's a little like wearing a hug, the compression can be very soothing, and I find that even a few hours improves my posture for several days once it comes off.

Not in any way defending women being forced to wear them or the thinking behind how they came to be, but as a standalone object I wouldn't be without mine these days.
