The frontrunners are all SO bland. I would love for Inside Out to get into the race just so that there would be a slightly unexpected aspect to all this.

Also rooting for Straight Outta Compton.

Everyone keeps saying it's a strong year for best actor but the field looks so weak to me. I feel like Leo is going to take it because everyone else has major weaknesses (like raved performance in a mediocre movie).

Best Actress seems like a much better reviewed crowd even if the critics haven't had their chance to weigh in on Jlaw they love pretty much everything she does.

ia. i cant stand when people prop leo's oscar chances before his film is even seen, but even im starting to think this is his year.

best actress is stacked. even more so if rooney and alicia stay in lead after their globes placement.

I really want Brie to win, she deserves it (esp. after being snubbed for Short Term 12). Saoirse would make me happy too because she's such a good actress and deserves better than most of the projects she's done in the past couple of years, hopefully this will lead to a better career for her.

I wonder how Joy will do, nothing has wowed me so far, as much as I love Jennifer, plus I doubt the Academy will give her another one so soon (she's only 25 and has had 3 noms and 1 win). I think she'll do well enough for a nom though.

Not sure about Cate and Charlotte, but Cate has been getting a lot of hype so I think she's locked for a nom. I doubt she'll win because she won less than 2 years ago, but anything's possible.

I honestly think that the academy doesn't really care about over-rewarding Jlaw. They absolutely love her and she is campaigning hard this year. As well-loved as Brie's performance is I think her nom is going to be a "welcome to the club" type thing for her and A24. Right now I'm predicting it'll be between Cate and Jlaw.

Hmm, that's very true. I was just worried that her 'wage gap' comments would turn the Academy off from her, but I hope not. She does seem to be campaigning so the race will look really tight this year.

I keep hearing really good things about Creed. People are starting to predict Stallone for a nom. Wish some of that love would extend to Tessa Thompson. How great would it be if she got a nom as well?
