If all the people offended by the show/books actually quit there'd be like five people posting here.

Some of us still like to discuss the books/characters though. This is the only real semi-sensible place for us to do so.

I thought that I was done done done but I'm reading counterarguments: that Sansa going to Winterfell was a sensible change and so Ramsay was behaving in character; this is a scene that will have consequences, and won't necessarily just service Theon's story...

But I still don't think I want to watch the show anymore. There is a deeply misogynistic element that can't be denied.

I mean, kind of like what I said in another post.. I realize that her going to Winterfell is supposed to result in betraying them and taking back her homeland.. and I have no problem with using the concept of rape as a means to further escalate her rage as it relates to whatever brutal bullshit she's going to lay down, but at the same time everyone knows Ramsay is a violent piece of shit capable of such a thing and we didn't need to hear it going down while looking at a man's face as opposed to having it be implied by a two second shot of him throwing her on the bed and the sound of him ripping off her clothes ( ... )

It's not really a sensible change though - she's wanted for murder by the crown, so how is it that they managed to legally annul her wedding and have her marry someone under her own name?
And that scene being focused on Theon's face tells me all I need to know about whose story is being serviced here.

It's more the context of the rape

Like this one scene was clearly done in order to lead to Theon ~becoming a hero~ by rescuing Sansa which is just gross and horrible

yes because women need to be raped in order to grow as a character!

But like, what implications did the Jamie and Cersei rape scene have for either of their characters? It was gross & shocking in the moment but now it is completely forgotten.

I'm not watching this week's episode and I'm done with the show. The fact that the very first season they filmed since Sophie turned 18 has a rape scene in it makes it seem so deliberate and disgusting. They cast her as a child. That is what really put it over the edge for me as something I can't tolerate anymore.

MTE. The writers couldn't wait until she was 18 to do a scene like this.

oh really? GROSS

I was wondering why it was this particular rape scene - since the show has had them before? at least, from what I've gathered on the outside of the fandom - but for the writers to sit & wait to use her like that is just an extra layer of disgusting.

I can only wonder what will happen when the girl who plays Arya turns 18, i hope the show is cancelled by then, tbh. This is so disgusting.
