also the theory of everything was such a mediocre movie, I can't believe it's getting buzz. eddie's performance was good but everything else about it was just eh.

he was really good, like i am fine with his buzz and eventual nomination but the rest of the movie was aggressively mediocre to me. when it was over, i had no real feelings about it either way and to me that's worse than like... being bad. be good, be bad, but don't be by the numbers boring. even still alice, which i don't think was that great either outside of julianne's performance, left me with an opinion on it just because i feel like there was so much more they could've done with it.

apparently Selma only sent screeners to the academy in December and it seems a lot of these groups rely on screeners so I think it'll still be fine at the Oscars but I don't see how it's going to take out boyhood as the winner at this point

it has hit like every precursor and it's managed to sustain momentum ALL YEAR like that's crazy, people love linklater and it was actually a good movie so yeah, it has everything going for it at the moment

i saw foxcatcher this weekend and it was genuinely one of the worst movies ive ever seen

I wouldn't be surprised. The Gyllenhaal/Nightcrawler situation reminds me of Fassbender/Shame where it's a performance that should win a BA Academy Award but won't because it's too controversial or not commercial enough for the voters.
