rip Van Alden. I liked his death scene though, one last crazy Van Alden outburst. His in memoriam posted on HBO made me miss the early seasons.
I'd be bummed if there were more seasons but since this is the last season I'm prepared and expecting most of the many characters to die or live unhappily ever after. I do love unhappy endings and character deaths
Noooo my fave ;__; Haven't seen the episode yet but at least his death looks like it was well written. I'm glad they did the character justice at least, his story was really great
While I wasn't exactly expecting Van Alden to make it out alive, I still feel like they kind of shorted him on his death. Same with Chalky-his end made me sad.
Narcisse had him killed, but since Narcisse made sure Daughter and her little girl (heavily implied to be Chalky's kid because obvi) would be okay and have a job singing, Chalky didn't even care anymore. He told Narcisse that nobody is ever really free, and that Narcisse will never beat the white boys--meaning Luciano and Lansky.
