She later apologized on her Twitter: "I'm embarrassed and deeply sorry. I wish I'd had more time to learn the American anthem. Thanks so much for the crowd's help! #memorialcup"

That's fine, I know maybe the first two lines of the Canadian anthem, and a lot of Americans butcher our anthem too.

I kind of find it weird that it's sung at hockey games anyway, given the composition of the teams, but whatever.

I'm from an Asian country and I can barely remember our own anthem tbh, it's like 3 minutes long. But strangely enough, I remember Canadian anthem perfectly because in an episode of South Park I love, they sang the complete anthem TWICE.

I remember the end of O Canada from an episode of the West Wing. See, TV can be educational.

She's Canadian and it's a hard fucking song

It's not rocket science. This was her job to learn it or sing the lyrics off a sheet. It's disrespectful and unprofessional.

lol that's embarrassing but girl, "i wish i had more time to learn it". please. what did you have 10 minutes? if so bring out a music stand with the words on it. otherwise lbr you accepted the job and had time. i don't blame her for forgetting the words... these things happen... but don't try to throw subtle shade.

she was making an excuse not throwing subtle shade.

i took it as her complaining about the organizers of the game tbh.

reaching tbh.. i feel like everyones excuse for forgetting lyrics is just "not having enough time". nothing in between the lines here imo

Lame excuse tbh even though a lot of people butcher it
