I really do want to like this, but as much as they talk about breaking out of the norm, the subject matter is slightly banal, and I really don't care for her voice very much. I DL'ed the EP simply because I will basically listen to anything that TriAngle Recs. releases, but I haven't had the chance to give it a full listen, which I will do today at work.

I'm seriously always looking for a fresh take on R&B, and anyone who has any invention, I automatically get in to, which is why I love an act like How to Dress Well so much. It just seems to me as if the genre at this point is so formulaic that people would rather just play catchup and trend hop, rather than try to innovate and maybe fail.

Here is a HTDW pack with a collection of my favorite stuff. Most of it is different because it's like a lo-fi take on R&B but the Just Once EP is an orchestral version of his songs. Though I love the other stuff, the Just Once shit is so beautiful, especially if you know the back story. He played with the orchestra only once, at the Pitchfork Festival last year, and luckily I was present and the set literally brought me to tears, especially his Janet "Again" cover.
