Best Picture "The Artist" "The Descendants" "Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close" "The Help" "Hugo" "Midnight in Paris" "Moneyball" "The Tree of Life" "War Horse"
BEST PICTURE WHAT THE FUCK like did the academy decide to fuck over anyone who was watching the race even a tiny bit closely, who thought it was mathematically impossible for 9 nominees, let alone THOSE 9 nominees?!
At least Gary Oldman got a nod. That's all I care about.
This year seriously sucked for movies though. Most of the movies that came out this year were completely mediocre. I am seriously questioning what has happened to QUALITY film making.
when was the writer's strike, that was like 3-4 years ago, right?
It usually takes 3-4 years to make a movie, and there was a two-month stretch of time when this year's movies were just being born where no one was writing ANYTHING.
idk, I remember reading an article about this eventual phenomenon when the writer's strike happened, that "around now" movies were going to suck, and I really feel like that's kind of what happened. Even just looking at the "little movies that could" that broke through this year...in a stronger year, do you think a silent pastiche rewrite of Singing in the Rain would be the frontrunner?
IDK, I'm not calling the endtimes yet. I feel like there's more at play this year than just general shittiness and decline.
