"It is the gayest story in the history of TV. It's a love story - these two people who love and need each other in a slightly dysfunctional relationship," said Freeman at the BAFTAs yesterday.
He and Benedict Cumberbatch star in BBC's "Sherlock", which is currently filming its second season, as Freeman takes a break from filming "The Hobbit".
Recently, Freeman let it slip that Cumberbatch will be joining him in "The Hobbit," though his role has not been announced yet.
