..at the theater that is. Evian had a busy week with the debut of his latest film The Wildest Dream and the release of After.life on DVD.
The Wildest Dream is a docu-drama inspired by the exploits of climber George Mallory. It features the voices of Liam who narrates and Natasha Richardson (in her last role) and Ralph Fiennes who read letters written by George and his wife Ruth. The movie chronicles Mallory’s ill-fated climb of Mount Everest back in 1924.
His body was found frozen into the mountain in 1999 George Mallory was obsessed with becoming the first person to conquer the untouched Mount Everest. Last seen 800 feet below the summit in 1924, the clouds rolled in and he disappeared into legend. His death stunned the world. 75 years later, climber Conrad Anker's life became intertwined with Mallory's after finding his frozen body with all his belongings intact. The only thing missing was a photograph of his wife, Ruth, which Mallory had promised to place on the summit. Haunted by Mallory's story, Conrad returns to Everest to unravel the mysteries surrounding his disappearance.
On an equally creepy note, you can take Liam home with you. The After.life DVD is now available. Unfortunately, you’ll have to take a whiny, naked Christina Ricci and hormonal Justin Long with him.
Is it me or does Liam look and awful lot like Justin Long on this poster?
In after.life Christina Ricci gets in an accident, wakes up on a mortuary slab where she is being prepped by a mortician played by Liam. He tells her she’s dead and that he has a gift to communicate with the dead to help them transition to the afterlife. Christina’s not convinced she’s dead and the whole movie is a game of who’s the crazy person-Liam or Ricci?
I must be dreaming. How did my mediocre acting skills land me in a movie with Liam Neeson?
The height difference between these two is comical when they're both standing up. Is Ricci a midget?
Justin, you realize you played this exact same character in Drag Me to Hell, don’t you?
As much as I love you Evian, I ain’t hopping in that hole with you.
Why you should request cremation Exhibit A
I was really looking forward to this film. I thought the premise was really intriguing and for the most part it is. Unfortunately Liam’s presence highlights the acting deficiencies of Christina Ricci and Justin Long who clearly don’t have the nuance and subtleties he brings to his parts. Christina always sounds like a whiny child to me and Justin Long spends much of the film crying like a little bitch.
The movie throws in a lot of weird supernatural sequences that make you think Ricci is experiencing life post-mortem but then presents scenes that make you think the mortician is lying to her so you aren’t quite sure what’s the truth. The ending is confusing as well. At first, I thought it was clear whether or not she was really dead then I thought maybe not? After.life is worth a look but you’ll probably feel let down by the ending.
Oh yeah Christina is naked for half the movie once Liam disrobes her while prepping her body for burial. You see lots of boobs and butt but her crotch area is always artfully concealed so no full-frontal.
For a better Liam movie where he’s hotter and less creepy check out Seraphim Falls.
Liam is ruthless, sweaty, dirty, and sexy as he hunts down Pierce Brosnan’s character to avenge a terrible deed.
