Filming for "Killing Bono" due to start on January 11

Filming is set to begin in Belfast next week on a new film which chronicles the tales of a band trying to make its name at the same time as U2, which may interest fans of Ben Barnes, who is to play one of the lead roles.

Barnes - who starred in the recent adaptation of C S Lewis's Chronicles of Narnia - is to take on the part of Neil McCormick, author of autobiography I Was Bono's Doppelganger, which the picture - called Killing Bono - is based on. It tells the tale of two brothers who dream of achieving success as rock stars but come up against a rival group, U2.

Shooting is due to start on January 11th and others involved include Robert Sheehan, who is to play McCormick's brother Ivan. The movie was written by Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais, and will be directed by Nick Hamm.

According to the Belfast Telegraph, a musician from Castledawson is to take on the soundtrack for the film. Ciaran Gribbin was recently nominated for a Grammy for Madonna's track Celebration, which he co-wrote.
