Twilight hottie Robert Pattinson gets mobbed by female fans in London on Feb. 7. Rob, 22, visited Groucho nightclub earlier that evening and was hanging out when he was swarmed by fans and paparazzi.
Pattinson, who had ATTENDED THE VOGUE PRE-BAFTA DINNER on Feb. 6, paid a visit to a corner store with actor friend Tom Sturridge, 23, before catching a cab with T4 tv presenter Marquita Oliver.

Rob, who has repeatedly stated that he isn't dating anyone at the moment, says hanging out at pubs is something he does with friends when he's in his hometown of London."There isn’t really like a pub [culture] in L.A.," says Pattinson. "It’s just a very different culture. I think people from L.A. don’t really understand how it’s such a normal thing to be in pubs from a very young age in London. People just think it’s so strange. Like drinking has such a stigma attached to it here. I have never really understood it. It seems so normal to me."

Meanwhile, Rob is set to start shooting New Moon, the sequel to Twilight, in March. Pre-production on New Moon is already underway, with director Chris Weitz scouting film locations in Vancouver and Volterra, Italy.Rob can be seen next on the big screen in the independent flick Little Ashes, where he plays the eccentric Spanish painter Salvador Dali-an experience the 6'1" British hunk really enjoyed.

"The whole crew [on Little Ashes] was Spanish," he recounts. "I can’t speak Spanish so I obsessed over the part. I came to a completely different realization about how deep you can go into a character and how you can research a character. It was the first time I’ve been satisfied from a job. I wanted to bring that to every job afterward."

The level-headed and modest Rob-who has become one of the most sought-after actors in Hollywood since Twi mania exploded-is taking his newfound popularity in stride."I don’t have too many concerns [with fame] because it’s just so new to me now," he says. "My only concern is when something is so hyped up and you’re really being put on the front of things, people instinctively want to tear you down."

Adds Rob: "That’s scary when you’re not really putting yourself out there. You’re not saying, 'Hey, look at me,' but people put you on stuff and when you don’t know if you’re ready for that or not, that’s what’s scary about it."Pattinson, who starred as Cedric Diggory in the 2005 blockbuster Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, says the Harry Potter actors [Daniel Radcliffe, 19; Emma Watson, 18; and Rupert Grint, 20] have handled their overnight stardom exceptionally well. "I think the way the kids from Harry Potter are dealing with fame is by ignoring everything and just living their normal lives as much as they can," says Rob.
"That has really worked for them," he adds. "They’re all very sane. I think Daniel lives in the same house he grew up in London. You can just see he has matured. He just wants to do good work. There’s nothing else to it. You don’t have to be in L.A. Well, sometimes you do but you don’t have to go to clubs and stuff." (laughs) Little Ashes opens March 27, while New Moon comes out in theaters Nov. 20.
