Did Heroes Rip Off Watchmen?

A 'Watchmen' Homage?

Whether or not you read the graphic novel, it would be pretty impossible to have avoided seeing the "Watchmen" trailer that's been attached to almost every movie in existence and spread throughout the interweb faster than Dylan McKay sideburns hit high schools in the '90s. Arguably the most iconic image from said trailer is that of Billy Crudup's character being assaulted by electric currents before imploding on himself. Then there's this picture:

Which is oddly not from "Watchmen," but was instead featured within the first 10 minutes of last night's episode of "Heroes." Some call it a ripoff, others an homage - but whatever name you attribute to it, there is no denying that Elle's electrocution of Sylar has more than a passing resemblance to the graphic novel.

Sadly, the same can't be said of the scripts - which continue to revel in their mediocrity and redundancy. But - and that's a big but, a Kardashian-size but - last night finally seemed to be setting up some sort of interesting end game to this volume of "Heroes" with an epic clash.

Mostly I liked last night's ep more than any other this season because it started to initiate a burgeoning romance between Sylar and Elle - my two favorite characters. Let's just call "Heroes" a wash and spin those two off into their own show. Who's with me?

I don't know what to do - I want to say homage because nobody would be stupid enough to blatantly rip that off, would they? Still, despite the inclusion of Heroes in this post (it pained me), we still get a Watchmen post! I think everyone agrees.
