IESB: So, we get teased in the Wolverine trailer with Deadpool, he's a fan favorite, another second tier Iron Man-like character, and Ryan Reynolds has been dying to play this guy for years and I think that's why he even did the cameo because he wants a stand alone film. Any movement there?
TR: Yes and no, I mean, Deadpool is an integral part of X-Men Origins: Wolverine, we are in the process now, of doing all the CG work to create that character at an A +++ level, that's being done in truly as state of the art fashion as possible...
IESB: Scarring and all?
TR: It will be very rewarding for the fans, let's put it that way. It's a high level endeavor because he figures importantly in the movie, so whether he'll spin off into his own movie, if that's what you're asking, I don't know the answer. We will have to see.

Fox co-chairman Tom Rothman and IESB's Robert Sanchez sat down last week to talk about everything and anything regarding 20th Century Fox and their upcoming and ongoing projects.
We brought you Part 1 of the interview detailing Rothman's thoughts on Fox's summer take and their upcoming feature AVATAR with James Cameron. Part 2 delved into a possible reboot of 2003's DAREDEVIL. Read both as the provided links in case you missed them.
Now, we'll move on to Part 3, the final chapter in IESB's interview with Fox co-chairman Tom Rothman.
So many projects and properties were talked about - Predator, SIMS, Jason and the Argonauts, Wolverine, Deadpool and his scarring, Fantastic Voyage, Hitman, Die Hard, X-Files, Alvin and the Chipmunks 2, Halo, ID4 2, the Day the Earth Stood Still and Gort. Whew! That's a lot of ground to cover!

IESB: Just a couple days ago, John Davis, brought up a couple of things, you've probably read about, that he's talked to Arnold [Schwarzenegger] and that he would like to do a stand alone Predator movie.
TR: Who? Arnold would or John?
IESB: Both John and Arnold.
TR: Just give us a call just as soon as his political days are over. Hey, it's all news to me but we would certainly be open to it.
IESB: How about a reboot? No?
TR: You mean with or without Arnold?
IESB: Without Arnold.
TR: That's an idea, I'm gonna make a note of that.
IESB: Davis said that Arnold mentioned to him that as soon as he's done with his Governorship and if he doesn't go onto any other government position, that he'd like to do 1 or 2 movies.
TR: You'll forgive me if I'm a little skeptical about John and that but...just give the Governor my number. Tell him as soon as he gets the state budget signed to call me.
IESB: Then he also talked about the SIMS. That he has this great idea for the SIMS which, 65 million games sold, it's a huge game it just seems like a really strange idea, are there any plans for a SIMS movie right now?
TR: It's in development. It's being developed closely with the game maker. I know the guys who make the game are working hard on developing the script but it hasn't gotten up to my level yet. (As many times as I've heard about this...I just can't begin to fathom how they're going to do a movie around it. I mean...I make my Sims wet themselves, then set their houses on fire. If that's not in the movie, I'll be very disappointed.)
IESB: Davis also mentioned that Jason and the Argonauts has good potential to move forward and that one of the biggest directors in Hollywood has expressed an incredible amount of interest on that property. So the question that I have is...
TR: Who?
IESB: Yes, who is the director and how soon are we going to hear something on Jason and the Argonauts?
TR: No comment on number 1 and number 2, although I do think it will take a big director to get that movie made and there has been a fair amount of interest, not just from one place but a couple of them, but when? I have no idea.
IESB: Is there a script?
TR: I believe there is a draft that they are working on. The draft has not come to me yet so they're still working on it.
IESB: So it's not something that you guys are thinking could go into pre-production in the next few months.
TR: No, not to say it couldn't come together that fast, but it's not in pre-production right now.

IESB: Wolverine, how dark is it? The Dark Knight has been the darkest superhero movie and is still making money, compared to The Dark Knight, how dark is Wolverine?
TR: It's pretty dark, but, I don't know, I haven't seen the movie yet. But, it's in that realm, it's thematically a very dark story, so it is not Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm.
IESB: Let's talk about unneccesary sci-fi remakes, The Day the Earth Stood Still is out in December, are you looking at any more?
TR: Fantastic Voyage we are looking very seriously at.
IESB: Is there a director attached?
TR: No, but we're looking for directors now.
IESB: Will it depend on The Day the Earth Stood Still, if it does well?
TR: No, it's not even the same kind of movie really. It's obviously a sci-fi fantasy movie, but once you get into the body, it's totally real. It's not at all campy like the original one.
IESB: Hitman, it didn't do bad at the box office, it did well overseas, dvds did well, is that a potential for a sequel?
TR: Maybe it's something that was profitable for us, But, I guess it's a question of whether we could do a better job creatively.
IESB: Olga, she's Bond girl now.
TR: I know, she's in Max Payne and she is so hot that the celluloid in the projector just kind of fries. And by the way, she's a good actress too.
IESB: I think there is a lot of potential with the Hitman story.
TR: I wouldn't rule it out.
IESB: Die Hard franchise, is that done?
TR: Nope. Never say never. I truly don't know, what did the last one take? Ten years I think.
IESB: We can't wait ten years this time though.
TR: I hope you don't have to wait ten years but there are no immediate plans. But people really liked Live Free or Die Hard and so I think if there were a great idea, we could certainly talk to Bruce [Willis] and maybe he would do it if it were a good enough idea.
IESB: X-Files, truthfully, I'm a huge X-Files fan, I was a bit disappointed with the new film. It didn't feel like an X-Files movie, but I hope to god, I know there's an idea that Chris [Carter] had about the 2012 mythology of the X-Files, the alien colonization, any chance we'll see X-Files 3?
TR: It's really up to Chris, David [Duchovny] and Gillian [Anderson].
IESB: The second one wasn't an expensive film.
TR: No, but it wasn't a matter of the money, that was the film that Chris wanted to do. He was determined to do a stand alone film, a film that wasn't dependent upon the mythology. His interest in making the movie, was in the characters and in their relationship, not the mythology.
IESB: Any chance of doing a stand alone Silver Surfer movie soon? Next two, three years?
TR: Is it something we are trying to do? Yes. We are trying to do a stand alone Silver Surfer movie.
IESB: You are working on Alvin 2, right? Alvin and the Chipmunks 2?
TR: Yes.
IESB: That was a huge hit, kids loved it.
TR: Yes that's happening. (WHY GOD, WHY)
IESB: The Chipettes are going to be in it?
TR: Yes, the Chipettes are going to be in it.
IESB: (laughing) Scoop of the day!
TR: Scoop of the day, the Chipettes.
IESB: Halo, is it dead and over with for you guys?
TR: Never say never.
IESB: I've asked you this before, I've talked to Dean Devlin, I've talked to [Roland] Emmerich, I think you know what I am talking about...
TR: ID4 2?
IESB: I know the story, there was a great script, Roland and Dean didn't want to do it, but I talked to Dean and he said he was open to the idea of doing a sequel. It was a huge hit, I still enjoy watching that film.
TR: We would love to do it, it's really a matter of Roland, it's up to Roland. He knows that we'd love to do it. I don't think there is a script but there have been a lot of ideas, but the truth of the matter is he's been making other films. He made Day After Tomorrow for us, big hit movie, he's doing 2012 for Sony. But, any day that Roland wanted to do that, we would be very excited to do it because I think, yes, that story definitely can and should continue.
IESB: Any other big sci-fi projects you guys will be announcing in the next couple of weeks that you guys can give me a tip on?
(laughter)
TR: Fantastic Voyage I gave you...
IESB: And the Chipettes.
TR: I can tell you I saw The Day the Earth Stood Still, it's looking really good.
IESB: We are going to see Gort right?
TR: No, we decided no Gort.
(laughter)
YES! Of course there's Gort! He's in the movie very prominently.
IESB: It's not going to be a shadow, mist thing like in Fantastic Four 2, Gallactus right? (Way to spell GALACTUS wrong)
(laughter)
TR: No. He's not. Gort is definitely in the movie, in a very big way. I don't know how you would even tell the story without Gort.
