After reading her well written response, I have a ton of new respect for her as a well-informed woman.

I love how whenever we read anything remotely well-written from a celeb, we're always automatically suspicious as to whether not not they wrote it themselves, LOL.

I hate it when parents get preachy with this topic. Good parenting shouldn't be judged by whether or not you want to risk serious or not so serious side effects from something like vaccines. There's a significant amount of parents comfortable taking that risk to keep diseases controlled and what not. It's not like everyone is going to stop taking their kid to the doctor because they're not comfortable with vaccinations.

UGH. I had to get a stupid MMR vaccine because there was an ~outbreak~ here last winter.

As much hate as I have for sensational scare stories (MRSA I'm looking at you), your MMR shot is one that I think you should have no matter what. :/

I won't be vaccinating or at least will be delaying & spreading them out.
They give too many vaccines at once nowadays & at such a young age...
& they can cause serious problems/side effects. Plus, I've heard of so
many people being vaccinated against something & still getting it :/

It's a touchy topic, as anyone hates their parenting choices being
judged, ya know? Everyone just does what they think is right for
their kids.

Most common side-effects of vaccines aren't that bad, not even a fraction of what would happen if someone contracted the disease being protected against. The side-effects you hear about in papers happen to small amounts of people out of the countless number of individuals who get the shot. And of course, you're not 100% guaranteed to not get the disease vaccinated against, but you're decreasing your chances greatly.

The only thing I hate is when people make an uninformed decision, going off of what one person or one dot com site has to say, without consulting a doctor or even multiple doctors, or investigating it themselves.

You're also 100% when you talk about how touchy the subject is-- not only do you have parental rights being debated, but also individual rights. Where does the right for you to govern your kid's health decisions infringe upon my immune-suppressed aunt's? If a kid with something even sneezed at her, she would be almost positive to get it because of the medications she has to take.
