Sienna Miller is in talks to star in Wuthering Heights.

The actress is in line to take the lead role of Catherine Earnshaw after Natalie Portman pulled out last week.

The Factory Girl star has just finished working on The Edge of Love, which was directed by John Maybury. Maybury also is at the helm of the big screen adaptation of Emily Bronte's classic novel.

If she signs up, Miller will star alongside Michael Fassbender, who has just been unveiled as the movie's Heathcliff.

A spokesperson for the film's producers said: "Michael's our Heathcliff. He has the raw quality we were looking for. He's the right actor for the role, and he has a sense of star quality about him."

Fassbender, known for his role as the demon, Azazeal, in BBC America's "Hex" and for his role in 300, soon can bee soon Hunger, a movie about Ireland's Maze Prison during the infamous IRA hunger strikes.

Hunger made its debut at the Cannes Film Festival on Thursday.

Wuthering Heights bosses were furious after Portman pulled out of the role, particularly since they said she had actively pursued getting the role.
