I watched The Return. The theater was almost full, which was surprising, and it was my first time in a showing comprised of so many old white men. I wasn’t expecting much since quiet, slow paced movies aren’t really my jam, but I quite liked it. I needed to pee but forgot about it after getting too into the movie and I didn’t want to miss the scene where Odysseus kills the suitors lol.

I want to watch the LOTR movie this week but I also want to watch Queer. 🤔 I’d watch more movies if I could find the time and energy to do more after work but I just can’t.

Gonna see an early screening/Q&A of Nickel Boys on Sunday - looking forward to that.

Otherwise, it's slim pickings in terms of availability of things I want to see this weekend. It's killing me that A Complete Unknown is doing its one and only IMAX screening next Wednesday, bc i have plans already.

Recent watches were Safe (1995) and Y2K, two very different yet oddly specific films.

How was Y2K?? I know reviews are meh but I live for nostalgia/that time period specifically.

Safe is sooooo good!

Yeah, I was 13 during Y2K so it really spoke to me specifically, lol! I don't want to say it's good, because I think that'd be a lie, but it was goofy and funny and enjoyable for both me and my husband. Very nostalgic.

That’s a fair review and what I assumed. And same!! I was 13 going on 14. I actually decided to put on Can’t Hardly Wait because I miss that time 🫠

I'm planning to see The War of the Rohirrim on Saturday. I'm trying to maintain my excitement despite these tepid reviews.

I saw Flow last night and it was beautiful but every time that cat was on any distress I was like “SAVE THE KITTY!!”
The LOTR movie is on my list to see for sure but it’ll be over Xmas as my brother and I want to go together

I want to watch this but idk if I can lol. I have two cats that are my reason for living and I hate seeing animals in distress!

Honestly at a couple points I was having a hard time because the film kitty’s meow sounds pretty much identical to my kitty and I kept imagining her in peril. It was upsetting!
