I think it's interesting how we have one of the most 'online celebs' vs. 'offline celebs' but they're both at the same level of fame but famous to who and why they're famous feels drastically different.
i think ryan's biggest downfall like so many celebs are compounding issues, that I don't know if he can or would want to pause and do different 1. if you're in the entertainment industry there is a large insecurity streak of wanting external validation, the feeling of having to 'be on' people pleasing etc. 2. being on social media blurs the lines between public and private, now you are 'on' when you should be 'off' and your public persona overtakes anything authentic you try to do 3. over saturation of this public persona becomes a turn off because it is inauthentic 4. but you're used to this level of 'connected-ness' and the illusion of having communication autonomy outside of the general press machine that you can't walk away from being online
I don't think they're at the same level of fame at all. Andrew Garfield, despite being Spiderman, seems to still mostly be "internet famous" if that makes sense.
His role in Hacksaw Ridge made him famous to offline boomers. My parents give no shits about the rest of his career, but his late night interviews about his mom/grief + Hacksaw Ridge has my mom calling him "that little cutie"
I find Ryan Reynolds to be one of the most obnoxious douchebags around and this year in particular the oversaturation of his presence in media has been exhausting. I love Andrew Garfield especially recently because I relate to and appreciate the openness and vulnerability of how he talks about grief.
He has a sweaty, desperate obsession with being funny that is so off-putting and phony it makes my skin crawl. I hate how much of a major industry player he is because the stuff he makes is so lame it gives me second hand embarrassment.
I am just as untalented as Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively when it comes to the performing arts. I don't understand why they put up a fight when this is pointed out. I'd be nodding alongside everyone.
