These winners are so funny and all over the place. Gladiator II over Dune 2 and The Brutalist, Jon M. Chu, Elle Fanning, etc. I love it, make this awards race exciting and chaotic.

On a serious note I’m glad they awarded No Other Land and hope it gets American distribution soon.

I thought the Wicked stans on Reddit would be overjoyed that Wicked won Best Picture and Best Director but instead they’re out in full force complaining that NBR is biased because they didn’t pick Ariana for Best Supporting Actress lol. They’re insufferable!

Ariana does not deserve it, come on. Maybe it's just bc the press tour was so endless, but the more I think about it, the more the performance just felt like...Ariana doing one of her personas, not the character herself shining through, as with Cynthia's performance.

I was impressed by Ariana’s dramatic moments. She added layers to the performance that are hard to convey in the stage show IMO, like in No One Mourns the Wicked, ozdust, and defying gravity. I think if you go in knowing more about Ariana it may be hard to shake, which I think is kinda true with most pop stars that go into acting. I felt that way about Gaga at times. But my mom for example only knows some of her songs and her on SNL and loved her. Cynthia was certainly better, though.

eta Austin Butler was also the same way with Elvis, doesn’t change that he delivered a great performance there.

Wicked & Furiosa are the only movies listed here that I have seen. Many I haven't even heard of, so they must not have gotten much hype.

Curious to see how Wicked does in the awards season. I get the feeling it'll get a *lot* of noms but not wins. Also predicting they'll perform a song from part 2 at the Oscars because why not.

my prediction for main categories:

nom for best picture - no chance to win
best director - not nominated
ariana is nominated in best supporting - then probably has a good shot of winning
cynthia is not nominated - and the rift w ariana begins

no nominations in male categories

a looooot of noms in the technical categories - but like you say probably not many wins

Some people think it's gonna be the Barbie of this year. Although I'm curious if Cynthia and Ariana will get those acting noms?

Cynthia and Ariana delivered better performances than anyone in Barbie.
I truly hope they get nominated, though I doubt they can win.

Kidman is so winning the Oscar.

It's been a weird vibe with Kidman this year, she's usually over-predicted but this year it's like no one believed she was a real contender. It feels so obvious to me?

It just seems like the role a culmination of her best performances and playing to all her strengths as an actress. It’s one of my most anticipated movies of the year, I can’t wait for it.
