Sing Sing & Nickel Boys also score
“I’m sorry I didn’t prepare a better speech, I didn’t see this as an option,” says A DIFFERENT MAN director Aaron Schimberg. (Most expected this top prize to go to ANORA.)

I wanted to see A Different Man during its limited run but wasn't able to, but I'm sure I'll be able to soon.
Happy for the Sing Sing wins. And Nickel Boys. Also for No Other Land, and it's shameful that it still doesn't have US distribution

Nosferatu is getting a ton of early praise and hype. Not what the academy goes for, but Eggers has an overdue narrative.
I loved Anora though, but I think it needed to be more of a sleeper hit to maintain its momentum.
People have been saying it’s a weak year, but I feel like there’s been so many good movies just not a lot of good “hit” movies. It’s gonna be a fun awards season IMO.

a24 really bit off more than they can chew awards-wise this year. i’m sure they’ll still do pretty well with sing sing and the brutalist, but they’re juggling so many films.
