New albums by Shawn Mendes and Gwen Stefani have underperformed on the Billboard 200 this week. After his first four studio albums debuted at no. 1, Mendes' fifth album Shawn misses the top 20 completely.

Gwen has really lost the plot. I actually loved her 2016 album, but don't have much interest listening to this one.

I said it in an earlier post, but I feel like Shawn's new sound is just not what his demo is looking for at all, so there's not really an audience for it.

Same. I actually really liked her last album (Misery, Send Me a Picture, Where Would I Be?, Rare, etc). But this one, I couldn't get into.

But like....I'm confused what changed in Gwen's public persona between 2016 to now? Because she's been on the regressive tradwife generic shit since before that. What makes this album cycle any more alienating than that one

There was so much goodwill after the No Doubt performance at Coachella that I'm kinda surprised Gwen's album flopped, but I guess people prefer her in a band (me, I am people).
