Maybe it’s just me but I’ve always considered The Insider to be Crowe’s finest work, while Denzel has better performances than in The Hurricane. I think Crowe was the one robbed that night. Denzel was absolutely robbed for Malcolm X, though (Al Pacino won for Scent of a Woman! Wtf)

Definitely, the Gladiator win was sort of an 'oops, sorry' for the Insider loss. And also Gladiator was overall so popular and won BP, etc.

Scent of a Woman is so terrible. It's one of those films my dad is obsessed with and I'm like "Why?" every time.

Pacino should have won for one of The Godfather films, or Serpico, or Dog Day Afternoon, or even Scarface.

The Academy never seems to reward men when they’re young with Best Actor even when the work is amazing.

This is kind of hilarious knowing that he had already won an Oscar when this happened, won another one two years later, and was nominated again in 2014.

But I can still feel the frustration for not being properly recognized for good work tbh. No matter how many times he’s won. Hollywood kisses many peoples asses who are less deserving. He’s actually an actor who does deserve all the ass kissing because he’s damn good at what he does.

I remember seeing the trailers for American Beauty as a kid but I didn’t watch it until my teens. It’s def overrated.

Was surprised to hear that Denzel had a drug and alcohol problem. I don’t think I ever heard rumors about him but for the same it proves how private celebs can be if they wanna be.
