But why? Especially if it's shot for shot the same? I'll just rewatch the original? Legitimately one of the beautiful things about the animated ones is the animation. This adds nothing.

Dean DeBois living out his Gus Van Sant's shot-for-shot Pyscho remake dreams? I guess doing a shot for shot live action remake of your own animated movie is... something

Aww, I think it looks cute! 💕

I know the reason is most likely money but Dean and Cressida being there for this and the kids from the cast have me excited :')

It's a billion percent for money. They can retread content they know people love and get a new franchise from an old one.

it's the ren faire quality costumes. could've at least made them look gnarlier, like in the show vikings.

did i miss when this live action was announced or just blocked it from my memory? this seems like such a surprising live action adaptation to me lol. i wonder if this getting the greenlight somewhat stems from GOT popularity tho. people loving dragons and how such dragons would look live action.

I legit thought it was only announced earlier this year.

Then again, looking at it...

I guess for as beloved as HTTYD is the news just generally flew under the radar. Especially because I don't think they were hyping up behind the scenes stills/first looks/etc etc, and I bet the casting was announced in like two bursts.

Or maybe more exciting stuff was happening whenever there were updates lol.
