The reaction to her seems way ott and mean-spirited, and not a little fueled by misogyny

It’s fueled by a disdain for white entitlement and taking space over more qualified people with less privilege, actually.

how dare people be angry a white woman clearly is in a space she shouldn't be in, denigrating an art form she clearly has no respect for!

nah, she has 0 talent or skill and was at the OLYMPICS making a mockery (intentionally or not) of the sport/art she was supposed to be representing for her country.

Her dance reminded me of Kath Day-Knight from Kath and Kim

There is literally nothing on earth that will make me laugh as much as watching Jane Turner and Glenn Robbins dance.

I refuse to believe there was absolutely NOBODY in the entire country who couldn't breakdance better than Raygun?? Like isn't there a huge population of Asian people down there lmfao

Wasn't the story that she created an Australian breakdancing association for herself basically? Made sure that actual breakdancers couldn't compete.

I know some think she's some sort of victim, but her academic career also reeks of white privilege, appropriating as much as she could from as many as she could...

If I recall correctly, there were a very limited number of competitions where dancers could qualify for the Olympics. Several of them said that they could not afford to travel to the competition where Ray earned the points to qualify (I think they also said that the competition was kind of last minute and that Ray's husband set it up?). I might be remembering some of the details incorrectly but the gist was that there are definitely some good breakdancers in Australia but there were logistical and financial reasons why they couldn't qualify for the Olympics.
