Makes sense that he doesn't want his son's face out here like that because people are crazy. I wonder about people who are convinced of various things simply based on what the person post (or don't post) online.

It was. You can't really be an active parent if you're constantly in other countries. But we expect so little from men that I wouldn't be surprised if people are going to gloss over that.

i do think it's pretty shitty and hypocritical to participate in the public shaming of him as a deadbeat dad, when the reality is we don't know what kind of father he is, when his kid will inevitably grow up and see all this stuff about him and his dad online. like if you're professing to care about the kid, isn't it sort of cruel to publicly paint his father as an absent parent without even really knowing whether that's true or not?

I mean, if there were Internet discussions about my dad being a deadbeat father that were happening when I was a child, it wouldn't bother me to discover them as an adult because I know those allegations aren't true. My dad raised me as a single father and was an active dad. Now, if I saw those rumors about my mom, I'd know they were a fact!

I have seen people comment he has been following Sabrina around on tour for months (I have no idea if true), plus his ex claims she does everything, so I think that's why they don't think he is an active parent. Being called a deadbeat implies no involvement at all, but I think if you're leaving your child to be raised by another person the majority of the time, it doesn't matter if you visit every so often or give money. You're one step above deadbeat, I guess.

i don't think the judgement comes from the fact that he doesn't post about his kid on his socials or talk about the child when he's doing press but more from the fact that his kid lives with their mom in london and barry is seemingly out in la very extended periods of time and followed his gf all over the world on the swift tour this summer and that gave the impression that he's not a very present parental figure in his son's life.
