Reading the Esquire article, I'm stuck on this exchange:

Often, when we talk about Paddington, we say that he upholds very British values. Is that a fair comment?

Alison: “It’s how we like to think of ourselves, isn’t it? He represents tolerance and inclusiveness and compassion and kindness and generosity. That’s what we want to feel.”

I mean everyone should be more like Paddington but knowing how racist Britain is, I wish they would also internalize it a bit more

I am so excited!!

I will never forget being in an “entertainment” focus group and they all asked a recent movie we saw in theatres that we’d recommend and I said Paddington and the rest of the panel laughed. I feel bad that they don’t have taste
