Haven't seen the episodes yet but I'm loving this show. DRAMA <3

I do have issues with the main storyline tho [under the spoiler tag just in case)]bc unless we get some significant twist about Johnathan's death, I don't get why the dad is acting like Catherine literally drowned his son? Yeah, she was heartless but the way the mom wrote the story - with facts she could not have been at all privy to yet seem somehow accurate given Catherine's reaction - makes it sound like Catherine literally murdered the kid.

I do love terrible women in fiction tho, so I might be biased lol I know grief works in very particular ways but yeah, I'm not sold. Speaking of grief, the ending of episode 3 (4?) with the parents in the ocean... that scene took my breath away, it was SO BEAUTIFUL. Lesley and Kevin are delivering so much, I hope they get nominated for all acting awards <3

I have the same issue with Jonathan’s parents. I totally get being upset that Catherine told the police she didn’t know him. But even if she had admitted everything about their very brief relationship (if you can even call it that), that wouldn’t have saved him.

And even in his mother’s biased/fictionalized version of the story, Catherine didn’t trick him into drowning or ask him specifically to rescue Nicholas. She was just yelling for help (and probably assumed that the lifeguards would come running).

Catherine acted selfishly and grossly, but his parents are acting like she strangled him with her bare hands or held him under the water herself.

I am curious about what else is in the book that made her coworkers seemingly agree with that assessment. Or are they all clutching their pearls because she cheated on her husband with an 18 year old?

I was trying to figure out Catherine’s approximate age at the time. She’s obviously older but there’s a big difference between her being 25 vs 40.

I haven't watched the most recent episode yet but I'm really captivated by this show. I'm expecting/hoping for some big twist because there was something off about the "flashback" scenes. Young Catherine was portrayed as this very bold and sexually forward woman and that just doesn't jibe with present day Catherine idk.

Also why does no one but especially Kevin Kline's character think it's weird that Jonathan's mother imagined and wrote these graphic sex scenes about her son? I know Boy Moms are weird in general but something is off.

And I love the cats. Every prestige TV series should have random cats just wandering through scenes.

re: jonathan [Spoiler (click to open)]his character definitely seems to be more menacing than how he's been depicted and i'm intrigued how it will all play out in the end. before this week's episode was up, i had the thought that nancy is surely lying and exaggerating a lot of parts in the book from her biased point of view. she also already has a history of lying when she told catherine that her husband was dead in that one flashback scene. the postcard that the tower of pisa was actually closed also confirms she's making a lot of stuff up.
