This is the first time I've sat and properly listened to Ethel Cain, and I like. "Punish" sort of reminds me of Agnes Obel's work, with the darkling influence of Soap&Skin.

Seconding checking out preacher’s daughter. It’s honestly incredible and I find myself thinking about certain lines fairly often

I always love seeing other Agnes Obel fans in the wild, I don't think Aventine or Myopia have left my rotation since they came out lol. I will say this track is a bit more subdued than most of Cain's previous works but she absolutely shares that lilting, haunting quality that Obel has. Definitely worth a listen!

I started listening to her on a whim and I'm loving Preacher's Daughter. I love moody atmospheric music across genres.

Preacher's Daughter is one of my favourite albums ever made. I think I'll wait until the whole of the next album is out before listening, because hearing the whole of PD for the first time was such an incredible experience.

& thanks to ONTD for introducing me to her!

The first time I listened to Preacher's Daughter all the way through, I ended up crying. I'm still not over it.

I need to listen to this a few times.

oh yes, the slow build to that fuzzy doom metal guitar is just so satisfying to me. this song is sludgy in the best way.

i really dig the heavily shadowed, deep contrast aesthetic of the video. and i also have a strong affinity for that ring of light/eclipse imagery she's incorporated into the promo for this single/album, i'm always drawn to it.

between ethel cain and fka twigs, january is going to be amazing for the creepy girls.
