Such a strange album release schedule like isn't the album only 11 songs to begin with and he's already on his 4th single? Why take such a long pause between first single and album release. It's not the 90s/00s anymore

i've missed out on a lot of modern music due to depression, so it was really lovely to learn some new artists through the first seasons of bridgerton thanks to those string quartet covers in the soundtrack. "in my blood" was one, which is probably why my youtube algorithm recommended other mendes songs. i clicked on "it'll be okay" cuz it looked like downtown toronto (where i've had countless happy memories) and got a swift kick to the nuts from the lyrics. i was going through a covid-era breakup with someone i loved, and the thought of being able to pull that off without hate and anger was really appealing.

hey, there was nowhere else to receive therapy but through the arts. thankfully there's tons of sad relationship music out there.

anyway, i still only know a few of his songs, but i can't deny that strong personal connection to the one. usually being told to cheer up feels hollow and dismissive, but mendes' song really makes me want to try, or at least feel that it's possible.
