It's definitely cute because he seems very genuinely smitten with his wife (as opposed to those weird men who make being a wife guy their personality).
I was disappointed that Guillaume was eliminated. He definitely had an off week, but overall, I thought his skills were stronger than some of the bakers that are still around. But that is how the cookie crumbles sometimes!
I really loved that he took risks with his flavor combinations so I was hoping he would make it further in the competition, but I agree that his elimination was justified due to his performance this week.
I can't help but compare this show to the GBBO due to the judges/hosts. You know that if someone had served Paul a bake with strawberries and wintergreen, he would have flat out said, "That flavor combination doesn't work," because anything he doesn't like is considered bad. But Kyla was open minded enough to say that maybe it was personal preference because she felt the wintergreen tasted too much like toothpaste. I think if Guillaume had used a different type of mint, his strawberry/mint combo might have worked. But my biggest takeaway from that interaction was that Kyla didn't just dismissively tell him that it was wrong or terrible the way I know Paul would have.
Since this week's technical challenge was tiramisù, my PSA is that the accent mark over the U means the final syllable (su) is accented. I know I definitely heard at least one person put the accent on the second to the last syllable (I think it might have been Kyla but I can't remember).
