This is a lot.

Riley shouldn't feel guilty about not being able to plan her brother's funeral. That was her parents' job.

She kept him in the house for two months.

Eesh.

In Benjamin's casket, Riley placed the yellow Nikes of hers that Ben-Ben had wanted so badly in Tokyo.

This makes me want to cry.

god, it happened after an argument? the poor girl

"She thought about how it would be the end of Lisa Marie’s life when she told her, and every moment after with her mother was going to be a gift"

:(((((((((( god just unbelievably sad

god i cannot imagine that pain. i have no siblings and will have no children so i truly cannot even begin to fathom that. this poor family.

i guess it might sound shocking to us, but people didn't use to bury loved ones immediately, and death used to be a more involved thing for everyone. idk i won't judge too much

"In Benjamin's casket, Riley placed the yellow Nikes of hers that Ben-Ben had wanted so badly in Tokyo."
ugh now i'm crying

The news reports said she was screaming the family was going to blame her, but it doesn't seem like that was the case- she's apparently still very close with Riley and her father, and she sat with the family at Lisa Marie’s funeral. The way that Elvis fans have treated her is another story.

yep during winter the ground used to be too frozen to bury bodies so they would store them until they could dig.

So Riley had to tell the whole family that Ben died? What in the world this poor woman has been through absolute hell and I’m wondering if the family even realizes how much they put her through because didn’t Priscilla try and fight her for Graceland and money? Riley is incredibly strong and I hope she’s doing ok now

Yeah, I've come out of the book with very little respect for Priscilla, to be honest (and even less so since she very recently tried to downplay Lisa's book as ~she said things she regrets later~).

This part broke me. I can't imagine Riley reliving this. It also killed me a little when she mentioned that she picked up the phone to call someone to check her own memory & realized there was no one left to call.

That's a heartbreaking read. Poor Riley.
