it just feels so obvious to me she spends too much time online and is perceiving that as "real life". How people engage online isn't real life, and that's part of the problem she's trying to dig into, but I don't know that she realizes that the medium is the partly to blame. Like so many stars, she would probably benefit from being less online - that's where sincerity is. I don't at all experience life in my circles as lacking passion, moreso people are really worried about the future and often not sure what to do about it/doing their best to get by.
Anonymity generally allows for honesty because it's easily denied without repercussions. Unmaskings like whatsherface, the art YouTuber, stalking her partner's ex are rare. There's malicious comfort in avatars and hidden names.
I agree with her, for me It’s annoying when every one just immediately does the same canned comments or is dismissive when anyone attempts to say anything more sincere/thoughtful. For an artist I’m sure it’s even more frustrating
I like fantano’s video about it i just watched earlier
I don’t know, maybe I’m just stupid but I could barely even parse what the actual point was in that word salad. She’s very rambly.
There are a lot of jerks online, love. Not everyone, but if you’re someone who gets a lot of comments you’ll see more than your fair share of them. Log off and spend time alone or with real life people who aren’t jerks.
Considering people, fairly often children, literally take their own lives over what's online, I get it.
Especially when existing as a woman online, especially a queer woman, means pretty constant harassment, often rape and death threats, violent slurs and misogyny, and dehumanization. There's an active misogynistic push to get women out of public spheres, including online, so I very much get why she wants to take things more seriously.
I always recommend that any and all women check out a man's social media before she develops any sort of relationship with him just because that nice guy in real life might be talking about how he doesn't think women should vote online. And there's no "just log off" for that kind of stuff.
Yeah, it's honestly annoying seeing how so many people are no longer with us BECAUSE of shit that's happened online or gotten stress to the point of physical illness and yet you have people (some here lmfao) saying that it's "not that serious". These are also the same people that flip the fuck out and go hard on the defensive when you tell them that the shit they say isn't funny.
